"Shift stories" is the column where people tell what happened to them. No law or decree here: just a story. This one comes from a former security guard in Quebec City.
I was working at the Festibière, in Quebec City. The whole weekend had gone well, nothing special.
On the last night, we clear the site. We start from the back and move forward.
About halfway through, we hear "splash, splash, splash". We go and look. It was three soldiers of about twenty, laughing their heads off, who kept jumping into the Bassin Louise.
What they did not know is that at the time, the water in the basin was really not clean, with the boats and their gasoline. Nobody on our team was going to jump in there to get them.
We spent about fifteen minutes trying to get them out. They laughed and jumped back in. We thought it was funny too.
We finished clearing the site, and they were the only ones left. When they saw nobody else was there, they said: "Oh, OK, we'll get out."
